Poor Donovan McNabb

Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go!  I got nothin’ but love for Donovan McNabb.  It’s true.  But after yesterday, one has to wonder, wah-wah- wah-wonder, if he’s ever gonna win the big one.  The Big Fig one.  Ooey gooey, rich and chewy inside.  Golden cakey, tender flakey outside.  You definitely have to wonder if he’s ever gonna win the Big Fig one with the Philadelphia Eagles.  He put on a really good shew yesterday, really good, but it just wasn’t enough.     

Yesterday was Donovan’s fourth loss in five NFC Championship Games.  Yesterday just might have been Donovan’s best last chance.  He looked good.  Good in the neighborhood.  Good in the neighborhood igniting a second half rally.  Good in the neighborhood throwing for 375 yards.  And know this sports fans, McNabb has a 19-4-1 record in regular-season games in which he recorded at least 300 passing yards.  Only three players in NFL history have a higher winning percentage than McNabb in 300-yard regular-season games.  But this ain’t the regular season. 

No it ain’t.  Like they always say in the The Music Man, “Not it ain’t, no it ain’t, but you gotta know the territory.”  The territory here is the playoffs.  Playoff football.  Growed folks football.  Unforgiving football.  Not for the feint of heart.  This was McNabb’s second loss in his three 300-yard growed folks football games.  Sometimes you just have to be better.

Yes Virginia, Donovan McNabb is one of the good guys, but these days there is a question mark hovering over his future with the Eagles.  He has two more years left on his contract.  He wants to renegotiate.  Only time will tell.  It’s a sad day today for Eagles fans.  It will be even sadder if they let this cat go.  But like my main man Al Davis always says, “Just win baby!”
