Chris Carpenters Back

Now this looks like a job for me, so everybody just follow me, ’cause we need a little controversy, ’cause it feels so empty, without me.  -Eminem

Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go!  Remember Chris Carpenter?  Two-time All Star Chris Carpenter?  Get the papers, get the papers.  World Series Champion Chris Carpenter?  Cy Young Chris Carpenter?  Comeback player of the Year Chris Carpenter?  Ya, him.  Well, he ‘s back.  You know what that spells?  That spells good news for Cardinals fans.

Last seen, Chris Carpenter was pitching an opening day game two years ago.  Last seen, Carpenter was sidelined with elbow problems and ended up needing Tommy John Surgery to trim bone spurs.  Last seen, Cardinals fans everywhere were gasping a collective breath.  Can you blame them?

Carpenter had just won his first career World Series start against the Detroit Tigers by pitching eight innings of shutout baseball on just three hits.  Yowza!   In eight career post-season starts, he has a 5-1 record with a 2.53 ERA in 53.3 innings.  I’d be gasping too.  The waiting to exhale is finally over.

And with the local DBT News, Chris Carpenter with a triumphant comeback.  Two months after having elbow surgery, right-hander Chris Carpenter says he’s ready to make at least twenty-eight starts this season.  Two months after having elbow surgery, right-hander Chris Carpenter says, “I feel great.  I really do.”  I bet a legion of Red Bird fans nationwide do too.

Public Spectacle:
