Don’t Blame Matthew Stafford

Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go!  So Matthew Stafford’s going pro?  First thing first.  I’ll never blame a guy for trying to get paid.  Like my main men Eric B and Rakim always say, “Gotta get paid in full.”  I never blamed all those high school kids for coming to the NBA.  I never blamed Vince Vaughn for making all those crummy movies.  You gotta get paid in full. 

But if there are any Georgia Bulldog fans out there looking for somebody to blame, Matthew Stafford’s father gave a laundry list of them.  Guys like Troy Aikman.  Guys like Peyton Manning.  Guys like Jay Cutler.  Guys like that there.  John Stafford:

 ”He’ gotten input about what it’s like, what to expect and everything else from those guys.  I’ve done my best to try to get him those kinds of contacts with those kinds of folks that have actually been involved in something to help him figure out what he wants to do.  My role really was just to try to do that, to get him as much input as possible number one.  And then number two really to help him go through the thought process, make sure he was looking at it both ways and look at the different areas and make sure he wasn’t getting too much weight from one point or the other.  But I’ve always stated it’s up to him, it’s what he wants to do.”

I dunno.  Sounds a little Mommy Dearestish to me.  I don’t care.  If I’m Stafford, I’m coming out too.  Guaranteed first round.  Guaranteed big money.  Up in the big leagues.  Gettin’ my turn at bat.  And like Weezey always says, ”There ain’t nothin wrong with that.”
