Lol. Thanks Josh. I don't think Marbury can excel on a young team. I'll admit, he's got some issues. But the Celtics have the perfect atmosphere. Doc Rivers is a great motivator. Maybe he can strike a chord with Marbury. And you know KG, Pierce and Ray-Ray will have a positive impact on him. Worst case scenario: you release him after a month or two. But I just don't see how he could wreak havoc on a team like the Celtics.

It would be different if you had a deep bench, but you don't. Both the Lakers and Celtics have been able to cut their starters' workloads this season. KG, Pierce and Allen are playing as many minutes as last season. Marbury fills a need.

Not with his upside. Look, I know people have been preaching about Marbury's talent throughout his career and I'm probably the only guy in the country that thinks this can work, but if I'm Ainge, I pull the trigger on this one. What do you have to lose? You have a group of veteran players who will put a stop to any disruptive behavior. If it doesn't work, cut your losses (the veterans minimum) and move on. If he's nothing else, Marbury is a fighter. The guy has overcome a lot to reach the NBA and he's facing the biggest challenge of his career. If he screws up again, he's out of the league. Again, call me crazy, but I'm not betting against him this time.

Hey Hoff,

I hope you're right because it sure enough looks like it's about to happen. If there's any locker room it would work, you're right, it's this one. But dear god, isnt anybody else available?

It's crazy enough that it just might work. It's hard to defend Marbury (trust me I've tried) after he refused to play for the Knicks. But by all accounts, he came into camp in great shape. He wasn't a distraction until the Knicks decided to bench him in the season opener. Maybe that was the right decision, maybe not, but I think he could help Boston.

Boston will provide the perfect atmosphere for him. KG won't put up with his antics, and after winning a ring, he has the credibility to do whatever he wants in that locker room. If it doesn't work, release him.
