Our National Pastime goes full time. -MLB Network slogan
Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! I can’t help it. I’m giddy like a schoolgirl. Or as dear old bubbe used to say, “A maidel mit a klaidel!” Dear old bubbe may have used to say that, but dear old Rogers Hornsby used to say this: “People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.” Not no more Rajah, not no more.
The MLB Network is in full effect. Everybody in the place give full respect. If your girl’s in the house, keep the ho in check. And if I’m bustin’ off caps, you better hit the deck. I’m giving full respect. In today’s world of blogdome, the thing to do in times like these is to be snarky. A few well-placed Harold Reynolds knocks here. A few gratuitous photos of Hazel Mae there. Not me, man. I come to praise Caesar, not to bury him.
I’m like Rogers Hornsby. I’m like Joey D: “You always get a special kick on opening day, no matter how many you go through. You look forward to it like a birthday party when you’re a kid. You think something wonderful is going to happen.” Now, something wonderful is happening every day, and I’m loving it.
Peace out homies. Six two and Even!
