Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! I hate to do this. It’s not like you didn’t already knew this. Lord knows, I’m not the first guy to spew this. But c’mon fellas! If not now, when? Ever? The score looked close. It did. The game wasn’t. It was never in question. What is in question is who’s the best team in all the land? That’s why they play the games. Oh ya, they don’t.
I know I’m preaching to the choir. Unless that is, John Saunders is a member of said choir. But after the beatdown, yes beatdown, USC just handed to Penn State, I’ve had all I can stands and I can’t stands no more. The Trojans are sent to their room without any supper for their Week Four loss to Oregon State. Meanwhile, back in Gatorville, Florida is allowed to go to the dance even after their misbehavior against unranked Ole Miss the same weekend. It’s a travesty. It’s a travesty of a mockery of a sham of a mockery of a travesty of two mockeries of a sham.
I’m not saying USC is better than Florida. I’m not saying they ain’t. Is you is or is you ain’t my baby? It’s just that unless they play the games, we’ll never know. Just like we’ll never know how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop. And that’s a shame. And if USC ends up atop the AP Poll, there’ll be a lotta splainin’ to do Lucy. A lotta splainin’.
