Reveille

Timberwolves 120  Knicks 107:  Awww, you broke your cherry.  Kevin McHale earned his first win after eight losses since replacing taking over as Timberwolves‘ head coach.  Well it’s about time.  I was beginning to worry.  So much for the Knicks big turnaround.  Mike D’Antoni:   ”We went through a hard stretch.  Then we played a little better but didn’t win.  Now we have to start finishing games up, start winning and getting in this playoff hunt.”  Not like this you ain’t.

Warriors 99  Celtics 89:  I couldn’t stay up for this one.  I’m glad.  I was getting used to all that winning.  The Warriors out-scored the Celtics 52-28 over the game’s last 20 minutes and Golden State walked away with the W.  This game marked only the second game in NBA history in which a team with a winning percentage of .900 or higher lost to a team with a winning percentage below .300!   I understand.  Long road trip on Christmas and all.  You are forgiven.  But, there can’t be anymore of this nonsense.  King James is lurking right around the corner.

Blackhawks 5  Flames 1:  Here come the Hawks, the mighty Blackhawks!  The Hawks are on fire.  En Flambe for all our Canadian readers.  Eight straight wins hot.  Behind Patrick Sharpe’s team leading 19th goal of the season, the Blackhawks’ tied a franchise record done twice before.  Chicago is the only one of the NHL’s so-called “Original Six” teams that has never had a single-season winning streak of more than eight games.  The longest streaks for the five other pre-expansion clubs: Bruins, 14 games; Canadiens, 12; Rangers, 10; Maple Leafs, 10; Red Wings, nine.  Let’s go you Hawks, move out!

Hurricanes 5  Thashers 4:  Ye ole double hat trick.  Get the papers, get the papers.  Carolina’s Eric Staal and Atlanta’s Bryan Little each scored three goals in the Hurricanes’ win over the Thrashers.  For Staal, it was his sixth career hat trick, and second in 17 games.  Staal comes from a long line of hat trickers.   Staal’s second hat trick this season was the third in his family.  Jordan Staal, his brother, scored three goals in the third period of Pittsburgh’s victory over Detroit earlier in the season.   C’mon Mark, you’re slacking.  Keep this up and it’s back to the noogies.

Peace out homies.  Six two and Even!

Share the love baby!
