Home is where the heart is, home is so remote. Home is just emotion sticking in my throat. -Lene Lovich
Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! Like my main woman Dorothy always says, “Toto, we’re home. Home! And this is my room, and you’re all here. And I’m not gonna leave here ever.” If you’re the Celtics or the Bruins, why would you?
Everybody knows about the Celtics. Everybody crows about the Celtics. Everybody tells and shows about the Celtics. Heck, there’s a lot to be crowing about. Franchise record nineteen game winning streak. When that franchise is the Celtics, that’s saying something. 27-2 record, the best start for a two-loss team in NBA history. We know these things. That’s not why we’re here today.
We’re here today to talk about their twelve game streak at home. We’re here today to talk about the Bruins thirteen game streak at home. We’re here today to talk about history.
Carly Simon once sang, “I’m no prophet and I don’t know nature’s ways but
stay right here ’cause these are the good old days.” They certainly are Carly, they certainly are. 1973 days. World Champion Celtics days. Hondo, Dave Cowens and Jo Jo White. Days like that there. Big Bad Bruins days. Bobby Orr, Phil Esposito and Johnny Bucyk. Days like that there. Days of hope and glory.
This current home cooking being served up by both the Bruins and the Celtics is only the second time in NBA/NHL history that co-tenants of the same arena, one from each of those leagues, have had concurrent double-digit winning streaks at that building in the same season. Yowza! But that’s not the best part. Good part, yes. Very good part. Not the best part.
This is the best part. The first instance of thsse hometown heroics was also accomplished by the Celtics and Bruins. The aforementioned ’73-’74 Celtics and Bruins. So don’t touch that dial, these are the good old days. These are the days of history. The days legends are made.
Public Spectacle:
Peace out homies. Six two and Even!
