The Atlanta Braves have reportedly signed shortstop Rafael Furcal to a three-year contract with a vesting option for a fourth season. A little surprising. A little surprising since Oakland was believed to have made the best offer for Furcal. A little surprising since the Braves already have Yunel Escobar at shortstop and Kelly Johnson at second base. A little surprising, but I like it. Having a guy like Furcal at the top of your order makes you better. The Braves just made themselves them better.
