Mike Richards has done did it again. Mike Richards has come big short handed. Richards scored a shorthanded goal in the third period and a power play goal in overtime that gave the Flyers’ a 4-3 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Big deal you say? Who cares you say? I say, that short handed goal gives the Flyers’ a league-best ten shorthanded scores for the season. I say, Richards has scored a league-high fifteen shorthanded goals in his four seasons in the NHL. I say that’s pretty derned good.
In Richards’ rookie season, in his first hat trick, Mike had two short handed goals. Last year in the Eastern Conference Finals against the mighty mighty Penguins, Richards scored a short handed goal. Who needs five when you have Mike Richards?
