We’ve come a long, long way together. Through the hard times and the good. I have to celebrate you, baby. I have to praise you like I should. -Fatboy Slim
Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! Down goes Maroney. Down goes Sam Bam Morris. There’s no need to fear. Big BenJarvus Green-Ellis is here!
Big BenJarvus Green-Ellis. The shake and baker. The icing on the caker. The touchdown maker. Scoring touchdowns in bunches. In droves. A plethora of touchdowns. Well, you told me I have a plethora. And I just would like to know if you know what a plethora is. I would not like to think that a person would tell someone he has a plethora, and then find out that that person has no idea what it means to have a plethora.
Big BenJarvus Green-Ellis knows it means to have a plethora. Registering his first career 100-yard game yesterday, Green-Ellis took it to the hizzouse for his fourth straight game. Green-Ellis became the first Patriots rookie since Robert Edwards to take it to the hizzouse in four straight games. Robert Edwards was a first round draft pick. Robert Edwards set a Georgia Bulldog record scoring five touchdowns in one game. Robert Edwards had prospects. He was bona fide. What is Big BenJarvus Green-Ellis?
Big BenJarvus Green-Ellis was only the second running back in Ole Miss history to record back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. Still, he went undrafted. And that fourth TD? That fourth TD equaled the longest rushing-TD streak by an undrafted rookie since the first draft was held in 1936. The last undrafted rookie to score a rushing touchdown in four consecutive games was James Mungro of the Colts in 2002. Big BenJarvus Green-Ellis is making a name for himself. An unusually long name, but a name nonetheless.
If I had told you at the beginning of the season that the Patriots starting QB would be Matt Cassel and their starting running back would be BenJarvus Green-Ellis, what would you have told me? Would you have told me they would be in first place in the AFC East? Would you have told me that next Sunday’s game against the J-E-T-S Brett Brett Bretts would be so big? He’s got electric boots; a mohair suit; you know I read it in a magazine. Ahhhh, B-b-b-b Bennie and the Jets. They are. It is. Thanks to Big BenJarvus Green-Ellis.
