I know Mel Kiper had him as the top rated running back in the 2009 draft class. But other than that, I haven’t heard so much as a whimper about this guy from those in the know. Like my main man Da Mayor always says, “Those who’ll tell don’t know. Those who know, won’t tell. How could that be? Javon Ringer leads the nation in carries. He leads the nation in yards. He leads the nation in touchdowns. He leads the nation in all-purpose yards. Second in yards per game. He became the first player to record back-to-back 200-yard rushing games in Spartans history. What’s a brother gotta do?
I understand Javon was in somewhat of a slump. I understand he fell out of serious Heisman contention after two games with less than 100 yards rushing. He ain’t slumping no more. Not after last week. Not after the Michigan game. Not after the Battle for the Mitten. Last week against the Maize & Blue, Ringer broke out of that slump with 194 big yards. Broke out with two big touchdowns. Big enough to improve Michigan State to 7-2 for the first time since 2003. Yowza! And he did it on a bad hammy.
He may be little, think Fast Willie Parker, think Leon Washington, Little Joe Washington, Mini Mack Heron. He may be little, but Ringer is single handedly winning the Green and White football games. The Spartans play On Wisconsin, On Wisconsin this Saturday. The Spartans end the season in Happy Valley against a powerhouse Penn State team. After a disappointing performance against the Buckeyes at home, expect Ringer to run roughshod against one or both of those two teams. Expect him to get back where he belongs. Expect him back on the Heisman watch.

graham harrell will win the heisman with a win today. graham harrell will win it with a close loss today. harrell is my heisman pick period… Big Deal you say, I say he’s put up 3147 yards in 8 games, i say hes got 28 tds in 8 games, i say hes hanging 48 points per game on the competition. So what you say? he’s got a 167 passer rating and will hang 400 yards on Texas today. I heart Graham Harrell and so should you. As a staunch Wolverine fan, i can not back your horse.
