Don’t you know I’m still standing better than I ever did. Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid. -Elton John
Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! I had to do it. Had to give a shout out to a fellow Bostonian. Had to give a shout out to Malden Catholic’s own Keith Tkachuk.
In case your not paying attention. In case hockey’s not your thang. In case of stuff like that there, I have to let you know. I have to let you know Keith Tkachuk in on fire. For our Canadian readers, that’s en flambe.
Big Walt extended his goal-scoring streak to begin the season to six games last night. Big deal you say? Who cares you say? I say, Tkachuk is the first NHL player to score goals in each of his team’s first six games of a season since 1992-93. Since Super Mario. Since Mario Lemieux tied the NHL record by scoring in each of the Penguins‘ first twelve games. Tkachuk’s goal-scoring streak is the longest ever to begin a season by a Blues player. Brett Hull never did it. Bernie Federko never did it. Brian Sutter never did it. Pavol Demitra had a five game streak to start the 2001-02 season, but that’s it.
Only one thing has eluded Tkachuk his entire career, and that’s a Stanley Cup. It appears Keith is focused on adding it to his resume before he hangs up the skates.
Public Spectacle:
Peace out homies. Six two and even!
