Stat of The Day: Hey, hey, holy mackerel. No doubt about it, the Cubs are on their way! On their way to the playoffs and beyond. Micah Hoffpauir is on his way. Micah Hoffpauir, a substitute first baseman for the Cubbies who spent most of the season at Triple-A Iowa, had the game of his life. Hoffpauir was 5-for-5 with two bombs and five RBIs in the Cubs’ loss to the Mets last night.
Big deal, you say? Who cares, you say? I say, Hoffpauir is now only the second rookie in major league history to go 5-for-5 (or better) with at least two home runs and five RBIs in a game. Kevin Seitzer is the other. Not for nothing, Seitzer too was a late season call up. Not for nothing else, Seitzer won the AL Rookie of the Year the following season. Hey, hey, holy mackerel!
Peace out homies. Six two and Even!
