Somebody save me. I don’t care how you do it. Just stay. Stay. Come on. I’ve been waiting for you. -Remy Zero
Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! I hate to do this one. Hurts my psychological state to do this one. Verbs I’d rather conjugate than do this one. But I gots to give credit where credit is due. I gots to give credit to Mariano Rivera.
Big Mo. Big Mo coming up big. Came up big last night. Came up big with the save. He’s been coming up big all season. That’s what he does. He’s Mitch Buchannon. He’s a lifesaver. Throw me the lifesaver. The lifesaver. Hope you like mint. Mo’s been mint.
Mo’s converted each of his thirteen save opportunities this season. Big deal, you say. So what, you say. Who cares, you say. I say, he’s been almost untouchable in those games. I say, he’s thrown fourteen innings. I say, he’s given up a paltry four hits, zero runs, zero walks and fourteen strikeouts for a .089 BA. Yowza! Pretty, pretty good.
Rivera is one of twenty-five pitchers with at least ten save opportunities this season. In and of itself, no big thing. But, but, he’s the only one among them who hasn’t been charged with a run in any of those appearances. So although I’d much rather see Bill the Killer Mueller knock in Dave Roberts against him, these numbers are just far too gaudy not to mention.
Public Spectacle:
Peace out homies. Six Two and even!
Need More? MLB, Mariano Rivera
