Red Sox Have To Party Like Its 2004

It’s now or never.  Come hold me tight.  Kiss me my darling.  Be mine tonight.  Tomorrow will be too late.  It’s now or never.  My love won’t wait.  -ElvisRed Sox Have To Party Like Its 2004

Public Service Announcement:  OK, here we go!  I’ve got a feeling, a feeling deep inside, oh yeah.  I’ve got a feeling, a feeling I can’t hide, oh no.

Yes friends, I’ve got a feeling.  That old 2004 feeling.  That old black magic has me in its spell.  That old black magic that you weave so well.  That old black magic the 2004 Red Sox wove so well.  That old black magic the eight players who remain from the team that was down three zip to the Yankees know so well.  That Manny wove so well.  That Big Papi wove so well.  That Schil the Thrill wove so well.  That Jason Varitek wove so well.  You remember.

You remember the comeback of all comebacks.  The comeback that smashed the hopes and dreams of all the little Yankees fans out there.  Ha ha ha!  The comeback of the ages that drove a stake straight through the heart of the Curse.  The comeback that set up the first Boston Red Sox World Series in eighty-six years.  Was it over then?  Over?  Did you say “over”?  Nothing is over until we decide it is!  Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?  Hell no!  And it ain’t over now.  ’Cause when the goin’ gets tough…the tough get goin’! Who’s with me?

That old black magic Boom Boom Beckett and Mike Lowell wove so well.  In 2003, Boom Boom, Lowell and the Marlins were down three to one in the NLCS.  In the NLCS against the Cubs.  At the ripe old age of 23, Beckett only had 13 1/3 innings of playoff experience when he pitched.  When he pitched a shutout.  When he pitched a shutout in Game Four.  Now he’s got three postseason shutouts.  Now he’s got 57 2/3 post season innings under his belt.   Now he’s got a 1.87 postseason ERA.  Now he’s the biggest big game pitcher in all of baseball.  Now he has the two biggest big game hitters in all of baseball.  Like Manny .  I hope Manny poses some more.  A whole lot more.  Poses more to even the score.  Poses more and more and shows Cleveland the door.  Poses from here to Ecuador

The Sox are in trouble, you say?  They’ll never make it, you say.  They’re backs are against the wall, you say?  I say, how you gonna do it if you really don’t want to dance?  By standing on the wall?  Get your back up off the wall!  Tell me, how you gonna do it if you really don’t want to dance?  By standing on the wall?  Get your back up off the wall!  The Sox wanna dance.  The Sox will get their backs off the wall.  The Sox are gonna party like it’s 2004.  This ain’t the Impossible Dream.  This ain’t whistling past the graveyard after dark.  This ain’t any of that. This ain’t no party.  This ain’t no disco.  This ain’t no fooling around.  No time for dancing, or lovey dovey.  I ain’t got time for that now.  This is Boston Red Sox baseball.  Growed folks baseball.  Roll Sox roll!
