Red Sox: The Kids Are All RightOld MacDonald had a farm, ee i ee i o.  And on his farm he had some chicks, ee i ee i o.  With a cluck-cluck here.  And a cluck-cluck there.  Here a cluck, there a cluck.  Everywhere a cluck-cluck.  Old MacDonald had a farm, ee i ee i o.  -Frank C. Brown

Public Service Announcement:  OK, here we go!  Go away for a couple of days and see what happens?  See what happens?  Huh?  Do ya?  Seven games baby!  Seven games.  See how we do?   We do it like this.  We do it like that.  We do it with the wiffle ball bat.  We do it with the kids.  That’s fine.  I know them all pretty well.  But I know sometimes I must get out in the light.  Better leave her behind with the kids, they’re all right.  The kids are all right.  These kids are all right:

Dustin Pedroia

Dustin Pedroia’s all right.  Rookie second baseman.  Rookie sensation.  Rookie tearing up the nation.  American League Rookie of the Month.  American League Player of the Week.  Should get American League Rookie of the Year.  Batting 327.  Gold Glove caliber play in the field.  In the last four games, Pedroia has been on fire.  We on fire.  Up in here.  It’s burning hot.  We on fire.  Shorty take it off if it get to hot, up in this spot.  We on fire.  On fire going eleven for nineteen (.578) with nine runs scored, two doubles and an RBI.  On fire just in time for the stretch run.  all right.  Rookie second baseman.  Rookie sensation.  Rookie tearing up the nation.  American League   American League .  Should get American League .  Batting 327.  caliber play in the field.

Clay Buchholz

Clay Buchholz is all right.  Buchholz made his MLB debut with the Sox in a spot start against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim back in early August.  Boston won that game and Clay picked up the win.  His reward?  A one way ticket back to Pawtucket.  So what happens?  He gets the title shot outdoors on the ballpark and what do I get?  A one-way ticket to Palooka-ville!  He didn’t stay in Palooka-ville too long.  Down goes Bake and Wakefield!  Up comes Clay.  You saw what happened then.  You saw the 115 pitch No-No Nanette.  You saw the nine strike out No-No Nanette.  You saw Clay become the first Boston Red Sox rookie to throw a No-No Nanette.  You saw his four seam heater topping out at 98 mph.  You saw his moving two seamer.  His grooving two seamer.  His something to proving two seamer.  You saw his knee buckling 12-6 curve.  His sitting duckling 12-6 curve.  His fire truckling 12-6 curve.  And you saw his nasty, disgusting, nauseating, repugnant change.  Phyllis Hughs who?  Ian Kennedy who?

Jacoby Ellsbury

Jacoby Ellsbury is all right.  Late season call up.  Call me on the line.  Call me, call me any anytime.  Call me my love, you can call me any day or night.  Call me.  The Sox called Elisbury.  Manny goes down with a bad back.  Jacoby keeps the Sox right on track.   Kept them on track last night.  Kept them on track with his glove.  Take my hand, take my whole life too.  For I can’t help falling in glove with you.  I fell in glove with Elisbury last night.  Fell in glove after his a diving stab of the Big Hurt’s line drive in the sixth.  His diving stab that saved the game.  The running diving stab that prevented the winning runs from coming in.  It wasn’t the first time the rook’s gloved saved the day.  Here I come to save the day.  That means that Mighty Mouse is on his way.  That means Jacoby Elisbury is on his way.  Jacoby Elisbury saved Clay Buchholz’ day with another Web Gem.  A Web Gem that saved Buchholz’ no-no!  One glove.  We get to share it.

Other kids are all right as well.  Jon Lester.  Battled cancer and came back.  Came back with a vengeance.  Came back with a vegeance and is undefeated.  Feel good story of the summer.  Brandon Moss is all right.  And if you want to count them, the Japanese imports are all right too.  Okajima and Matsuzaka.  Gy-ro-mite!  Yes sports fans, the Sox are seven games up today.  The magic number is eighteen today.  Tomorrow?  The World Series.  Roll Sox, roll!
