Boston Colleges Jared Dudley I want to fly like an eagle, to the sea.  Fly like an eagle, let my spirit carry me.  -Steve Miller Band

Public Service Announcement: OK, here we go!  What’s crack-a-lacking sports fans?  For Boston, for Boston, thy glory is our own!  For Boston, for Boston, ’tis here that Truth is known.  For Boston, for Boston, for Thee and Thine alone.  That’s right folks.  Boston College.  The Boston College Eagles.  The Sreamin’ Eagles.  Sreamin’ Eagles basketball.  Unranked Screamin’ Eagles basketball.  Unranked, but ahead of them all.  Unranked and standing tall.  Taller than the great Chinese wall.  Standing tall in first place.  Boston College, first place in the almighty ACC.  In first place convincingly.  Playing with tenacity, dignity, unity, electricity, indestructibility.  They are a sight to see.  You saw them yesterday.  You saw them beat Florida State.  Beat Florida State with a clutch fifteen-foot jumper with three seconds left on the clock.  Put the Seminoles in shock.  The Seminoles and their Tomahawk Chop.  They have already Tomahawk Chopped Duke, Maryland, Florida and Virginia Tech this year.             Read More »

What Would Red Auerbach Do? The Boston Celtics

What Would Red Auerbach Do? The Boston Celtics

We just sit around talking about the old times, she says when she feels like crying she starts laughing thinking about glory days.  -Bruce Springsteen

Public Service Announcement: OK, here we go! My Boston Celtics’ just lost 100-89 to the Clippers at home.  Like my main Bobby Dylan always says:  The times, they are a changing.  Have been for a while.   That loss was their 14th straight.  That loss established a franchise record for losses.  That loss was the Celtics 11th straight defeat at TD Banknorth Garden.   That home losing streak is the longest for any NBA team since the Atlanta Hawks lost 11 in a row at home in the spring of 2005.  No team has lost 12 straight home games since the 1996-97 Sixers.  Like the Frisco Kid always says:  Oy gevalt!   It just doesn’t seem right.  It’s no fun writing about your team when things are this bad.  When things are this sad.  I want to go the place when I was happy to rhyme.  When loving the Celtics wasn’t a crime.  When the Boston Gahden was the most rockinest of all time.  When Red Auerbach was towing the line.  Sherman, you know what to do.  Set the way back machine to 1978.           Read More »

Craig Conroy & the Calgary Flames

By: josh q. public on: Friday, February 2, 2007 @4:25 pm

Craig Conroy & the Calgary FlamesWell the names have all changed since you hung around, but those dreams have remained and they’re turned around.  Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.  -The Sweat Hogs

Public Service Announcement: OK, here we go!  Just a little quicke today.  Not a New York Knickie today.  It’s a Koho hockey stickie today.  You want to know how little I care about the Super Bowl?  Huh?  Do ya?  I’m writing about the Calgary Flames.  That’s how little.  Heck, to be honest, I’d rather write about the Calgary Stampeders.  The Hitmen.  The Roughnecks.  Any one of ‘em.  But the Flames are actually doing some things.  The Flames are actually getting stuff done.  The Flames are taking care of business.  Every day.  The Flames are taking care of business.   Every way.  Taking care of business and working overtime.  The Flames just got back Craig Conroy.            Read More »
